What To Expect From Your First Consultation At Osteopathie Seebach

Your initial consultation is designed to gather all the necessary information to provide you with personalised, effective and sustainable care. You will have the chance to define your personal goals and set your priorities. We will also determine if the condition you present with, is suitable for osteopathic care and refer you to other health care professionals in or around Zurich if needed.

The first time you come and visit us in Zurich Seebach, you can expect the consultation to be structured as follows and last approximately 75min. Depending on your personal history, this time estimation might not be accurate.

Case History

We begin by collecting a comprehensive case history, which includes:

  • Social History
In order to tailor the treatment plan according to your needs, we will ask you about your hobbies and your work.
  • General Medical History
To understand your overall health and identify any relevant medical conditions. This includes aspects such as previous injuries, surgeries or previous diagnoses.
  • Osteopathic History
Focusing on musculoskeletal concerns, past and current treatments, and how they may relate to your current symptoms you might have.
  • Family History
Inquiring about your biological relatives allows us to understand the risk factors of developing certain hereditary diseases.

NB. If a complex medical history leads to the case history taking longer than 60 minutes, the examination and goal setting will be deferred to the next consultation.

Examination

A thorough assessment will be conducted, comprising:

  • Basic Health Assessment
During your first consultation we usually provide you with basic health measurements, such as your blood pressure, weight and height.
  • Active Assessment
Observing your movements and identifying any limitations or discomfort.
  • Passive Assessment
Gently moving your joints and muscles to evaluate mobility and function.
  • Specialised Tests
Orthopaedic and neurological tests may be performed to gain deeper insights into the cause of your symptoms.

Goal Setting

Following the examination, we will discuss the findings and set clear, achievable objectives together:

  • Explanation of Findings
We will explain the results of the assessment in an understandable way.
  • Answering Questions
This is your opportunity to ask any questions about your condition or treatment.
  • Collaborative Treatment Planning
We will work together to create a tailored treatment plan with clear short-term, medium-term, and long-term goals.

Treatment

At Osteopathie Seebach we believe that an accurate and appropriate diagnosis is the most important aspect of an effective treatment. Depending on the complexity of the case history and examinations, the first consultation will therefore comprise mostly of gathering information by asking questions, doing tests and examinations.

If you are in acute discomfort, we will make sure that you receive the necessary care as soon as possible through our emergency appointments. Since your safety is our priority, we will always have to ask a certain number of questions, to make sure that we can provide you with the appropriate care.

In order to provide you with the optimal care, we use a wide range of interventions. You can learn more about the different approaches we use here.

Documentation

All findings, interventions and treatment plans will be carefully documented to ensure continuity of care and track your progress over time. This approach ensures that your time is well spent and you won't have to repeat yourself if you see another practitioner.
